Properties of dates you might not know about

Dates and date syrup

Simmering dates in water makes a simple syrup — thick, sweet, and useful anywhere you'd reach for honey or sugar syrup in the kitchen. A few tablespoons stirred into tea, or drizzled over breakfast, is the usual way to use it. Try our own date syrup for a ready-made version instead of making a batch from scratch.

Dates carry a useful amount of B vitamins, and potassium levels are notably high — a mineral your body uses for normal muscle and nerve function. Magnesium is present in a similar range, also tied to nerve and muscle function. This is general nutrition information, not medical advice.

Phosphorus in our Pemborong Kurma Mazafati range supports normal nerve-cell function, and dates are also a source of iron. Their sweetness comes entirely from natural sugars — no added sugar needed.

Dates also contain folate, one of the B vitamins present in the fruit, along with vitamin C — about 14mg per 100 grams.
